My bio is more or less as follows:
Mark Drake-Briscoe was born in Watford, Hertfordshire U.K. on the 19th of December 1964.
He studied at art college in Torquay where he gained a diploma in
graphic design and fine art. In the mid 1980's he moved to London where
he worked for a fine art restorer in Covent Garden. Here he learned
many fundamental techniques that have been used by master artists over
the centuries.
In 1988 he made a trip to India and the beautiful "lake city" of
Udaipur where he studied the art of Indian miniature painting under the
guidance of the master miniaturist Ram Krishna Sharma, the son of the
official court artist to the then king of Udaipur.
Over the next few years he employed his knowledge of eastern brushwork
and painting techniques in the restoration of antique chinoiserie
decorated furniture. He has also worked on several commercial furniture
projects with interior designers Neena Campbell, Joanna Wood and the
late Victoria Waymouth.
He is now painting on panels using a combination of tempera and oil, his technique has been largely influenced by
the late Tom keating and Max Doerner.
